Note from the Publisher: Eight years ago, I moved to Charleston from the hills of Hollywood. It was an experiment, an adventure. I expected to find the things the South is known for…slow pace, southern gentlemen, grits, history oozing from every cobblestone. What I discovered was a small metropolis filled with cuisine that turned me into a full-fledged “foodie,” inspired galleries and artists, interesting festivals and events filling most evenings, stylish boutiques with one-of-a-kind finds, open hearts and deep pockets when it comes to charitable giving and the most inventive chefs, painters, photographers, musicians, designers, business owners and visionaries I’ve ever met…in other words, a gem of a city.
CHARLIE explores what this city is really all about…not the past, but rather, the progressive culture that is Charleston’s future.
