The air is getting steamy, the streets are buzzing with tourists and surfboards are starting to pop out of every convertible. Besides the beginnings of summer, these signs also mean just a few weeks until our beloved arts festival. Spoleto.

Spoleto can be overwhelming to some. Rest assured: the fear of astronomical ticket prices, shows that make you go “huh?” and 90-year-old-plus stuffy patrons is nothing but a myth. Enter Spoleto SCENE. For the 20 and 30-something patrons of Spoleto, this group is a Godsend. And the best way to enjoy the greatest festival of the year.

Spoleto SCENE was conceived a few years ago as a way to get young patrons more involved with the festival. The group narrows down the program to just those shows that the hipsters would like, they offer a 20% discount on tickets and, maybe the best part of the 3-week spectacle, they pair exclusive parties with nearly ever show on the SCENE schedule.

It’s also a great way to meet people since SCENE books the members, currently about 150 people strong, together in seat blocks for each of the selected shows. That, along with the parties, will have you running into the same familiar faces throughout the festival.

Not into the arts? It’s still worth it. $100 to join more than covers the seven-ish invitation-only pre and post event parties (complete with food and drink) sprinkled throughout the festival. But be forewarned. When that cutie you’re talking to is gushing about the show beforehand, you’ll wish you had gone.
